The Herd

Full Name:  Dreams Made Lucky
Barn Name: Lilly
Breed: Paint
Birthdate:

Lilly is a little silly and a lot of spunk.  She came to us five years ago when her owner could no longer care for her.  She had sat for a quite a while in a pasture so she was more green broke than we were originally told but she has come a long way.

Barn Name:  Melody

Barn Name:  Melody
Full Name:  PF Endless Melody
Breed:  Purebred Polish Arabian
Birthdate:

The beautiful queen of the barn.  She came to Letitia over 11 years ago when she needed a soft spot to land.  An ex show horse, she has been with us the longest now.  She is the first one to come in at night and has a sense for any child that comes in with “special” needs.

Barn Name:  Joey

Full Name:  Sir Joseph’s Knight

Breed:  Quarter Horse cross

Age:  31

Joey is the mainstay of our barn.  He has started almost everyone off on the path to true horsemanship and a relationship with horses that hopefully lasts a lifetime.  From the tiniest little ones to the adults he is just what each one needs.  He came to us about 10 years ago when his owner was leaving the country and he started the whole program.

Barn Name:  Hottie

Full Name:  It’s really just Hottie

Breed:  Morgan/Quarter Horse

Age:  30

The cute guy that’s our Hottie man  He came to us 9 year ago.  His past owner could no longer take care of him and he a lot of structural issues that took 2 years and a lot of help and rehabilitation to get where we are today.  One of the 4H members that helped rehabilitate him still rides him and he is her true love.  If it wasn’t for his gray hair and allergy eyes he would still look like a baby.  He takes care of some of our little kids and loves carrots and attention.

Barn Name:  Jack

Full Name:  Jackson’s Wildfire

Breed:  Quarter Horse

Age:  27

Jack came to us a grumpy old man with Lilly when their owner was injured and couldn’t care for them anymore.  He has gone from grumpy to soft, but don’t tell him that he will argue.  When he became lame a few years ago we had a long road to follow with first misdiagnosous to surgery with a new vet.  It has been amazing to see that he went from potentially needing to be put down to having a useful life.  He knee isn’t perfect but he doesn’t have to be.  His people love him and one of  his girls does cookie sales to help with vet bills.

Barn Name:  Ty

Full Name:  BJs Secret Moon

Breed:  Quarter Horse

Age:  21

Ty is the handsome man of the barn.  His family was looking for a forever home when he needed to be retired from roping.  The biggest horse at the barn and quite a sissy really that’s our Ty.  First afraid of birds than a butterfly trail riding isn’t really his thing, but he’s become a good arena horse and helps with the program.

Barn Name:  Tahlia

Full Name:  Poco Tabs Real

Breed:  Quarter Horse

Age:  21

Oh Tahlia!  When had a stall open up and what pops up in my Facebook but a Palomino (remember I said no Palominos) that I couldn’t get off my mind.  Underweight, sad, and four homes in five months when I saw her I knew she had to go home with us.  She has been a challenge both physically trying to get down to her pain and emotionally with her issues.  She just wants to be loved and understood.  She is so loved by her people and they have been willing to take time to work through things.  It has been a long haul, but it will be worth it in the end.  This girl is worth the time and effort and goes to show how some love and understanding can heal lots of wounds.
